Odisha’s first humanoid robot was created by 17 Yr old Neelmadhab Behera ( Santaragadia, Balasore ) named “ ATOM 3.7 ”. He claims that it can be used in entertainment, education, manufacturing, and domestic services.
When this robot was created, Neelmadhab Behera was in 12 grade studied at Telangana Junior College, he started working on this robot in Jan 2016, It took him almost one year for building this robot and the entire project cost nearly INR 4 Lakh. The height of this robot is 4.7 Ft. and the weight of the robot is almost 30 kg. It has 14 sensors, 5 controllers and it works based on programming.
In June 2018, Upgradation was done in the robot, body and face structure was designed and now it is capable of multi-tasking. Neelmadhab Behera said, “I have developed a technology in such a way that the robot can remember a human face, It can also help people by serving them and solving their problems”. After graduation, he renamed the robot “Neel-Robot”, and the height of the robot is slightly increased up to 5.3 ft.
For his first robot ATOM 3.7, He was appreciated by Chief-minister Naveen Patnaik honored him with the Youth Innovation Award with the cash prize INR 1 Lakh.
