World Humanoid Robot Games Competition 2025 Rules

The 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games (WHRG) will take place from August 14 to 17, 2025, at the National Speed Skating Oval (Ice Ribbon) in Beijing, China. This global event will bring together humanoid robots from across the world to compete in sports, exhibitions, and scenario-based challenges.

1. Main Organizers

6. Competition Events

(1) Competitive Games

  • Track and field: 100m, 400m, 1500m, 4x100m relay, 100m hurdles, standing long jump, standing high jump

  • Floor exercise

  • Football: 3v3 and 5v5

(2) Exhibition Matches

  • Dance: solo and group

  • Martial arts

  • Creative performances (“sudden inspiration”)

(3) Scenario Competitions

  • Hotel services: welcome, cleaning

  • Medical tasks: drug sorting, unpacking, and repackaging

  • Industrial tasks: material handling, material sorting, mixed material sorting

(4) Qualifying Rounds

  • Basketball

  • Table tennis

  • Group dance

  • Free fighting

  • Kung Fu fighting

7. Robot Eligibility

Robots must follow these conditions:

  1. Robots can be self-developed, purchased, or leased by teams.

  2. Robots must be independent units, not split into multiple sub-units (except remote controllers and routers). Markers in the arena are not allowed.

  3. Each robot must have a trunk, arms, and two legs. The reach from the center of gravity to the sole should be 40%–70% of its height. For scenario and exhibition events, robots may be bipedal or wheeled.

  4. Jumping robots (long/high jump) cannot use elastic devices or external boosters.

  5. Props for exhibitions must be provided by teams, but dangerous items are banned.

  6. Robots must carry their own safe energy supply.

  7. Control methods:

    • Remote control is allowed, but only wirelessly within a set area.

    • Fully autonomous mode is required for football, dance, floor exercise, and martial arts.

  8. Networks used by robots must not interfere with event operations.

8. Team Participation Rules

  • Enterprises, universities, clubs, research groups, social organizations, and individuals worldwide can join.

  • Teams can enter multiple events, but one robot cannot switch events.

  • Maximum of 2 contestants per field, except relays (up to 8).

  • Only relay races allow joint teams (up to 4 teams).

  • Each team may register 1 robot per event, except relays (4–6 robots, with 2 reserves) and group dance (at least 4 robots).

  • Every team must submit a unique name and logo (JPG or PDF, at least 2MB) to 2025whrgspt@whrgoc.com.

9. Competition Rules

  • Event-specific rules from the committee will apply.

  • If fewer than 3 teams register for an event, that event will be canceled.

  • The top 8 robots in each event will qualify.

  • Top 3 winners will earn medals and certificates.

  • Other finalists will receive certificates.

12. Safety and Insurance

  • Teams must provide insurance for all participants.

  • Equipment and robots must be charged and stored in approved areas.

  • Entry and exit routes must follow committee rules.

13. Arbitration and Referees

  • An arbitration committee will settle disputes.

  • Referees will be appointed by the WHRG Organizing Committee.

14. Final Interpretation

The 2025 WHRG Organizing Committee holds the right to interpret and revise these rules. Additional notices will be issued if required.
